Cutlery

A person who owns nice cutlery and wants to be able to maintain it can do so by following a few simple steps. They include:

• Wash immediately – Cutlery should be washed by hand immediately after it is used. Mild soap, hot water and a non-abrasive sponge are the best practices.

• Wipe – Cutlery should be wiped before it is stored away. If fingerprints stay on cutlery for a long time, it can alter the way the finish in the long term. The oil from skin could cause permanent staining.

• Store in warm area – Extreme temperatures can damage the finish and the actual steel, but a warm area is the standard for knife storage.

• Sharpen by hand – Although it might be easier to sharpen edges with an electronic knife sharpener, it is better for the steel to sharpen by hand. This will help keep the edges sharp and precise.

• Store separately – It is best to store cutlery separately. This will help prevent any kind of damage from other pieces of flatware or knives. Because scratches can affect the way cutlery appears, it is always best to be careful.
