Cutlery Knife

A cutlery knife must be maintained if a person wants to continue to be able to use it. One of the best ways of maintaining these items is to keep them sharp. Although some are unaware of exactly how to sharpen a knife, they can do so by following these steps:

• Reorganize – The fact that a knife seems dull doesn’t necessarily mean the edge is gone. Often, the sharp edges of the knife have simply been pushed to one side or the other. In this case, all a person needs to do to restore the knife is use honing steel. Some of these steels are long and smooth and are attached to a handle. To restore the knife edge, run the knife over the steel several times while switching sides each time.

• Drag – Next, drag the edge of the knife from the tip to the bottom, pulling the hand back in a smooth motion. Additional weight is not needed to sharpen a knife like this. The knife’s weight is enough. This should be done about three or four times on each side at a 20 degree angle.

By keeping the cutlery knife sharp it will be safer and more effective. And it’s not the difficult to maintain knives. A lot of good money is spent on quality knives so it’s worth it to take good care of them.
